Filing and Payment Extension for the Covid-19 National Emergency

The Covid-19/Corona virus pandemic has thrown the world into a tailspin. The government is making some big moves to help businesses and individuals.

Here is a quick rundown on how this tax season will be different:

  1. The filing date for federal taxes has been extended 90 days. The new deadline is July 15th.

  2. Taxpayers will not be subject to interest and penalties during that time.

  3. Filings and payments in the State of Illinois are now also due on July 15th.

We encourage our clients to complete their tax filings as soon as they are able. Yet, if you or your business were hard hit by this outbreak, deferring tax payments may help you survive.

Stay safe everybody!
